Young and Empowered Program (YEP)
The goal of the project is to enhance decent employment for young people through improved job skills and networks.
Young and Empowered Program (YEP 2021-2023) is addressing the adverse socio-economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic that have affected many young people as many got unwanted pregnancies and faced sexual gender based violence. The goal of the project is to enhance decent employment for young people through improved job skills and networks. The project supports 200 young people through vocational and life skills trainings, provision of startup kits and capital as well as linkages to markets to create employment and employable in Kamwokya and Kyebando slums in Kampala district. Vocational trainings focus on key skills in arts and crafts including tailoring and design, recycling waste into arts and crafts, decorative arts as well as graphics and design. YEP provides resources including knowledge. Furthermore, the YEP equips young people with life skills, entrepreneurship and the business legal environment. YEP partners with private sector including service providers to conduct the technical trainings as well as market linkages. YEP is being implemented by Sanyu Centre for Arts and Rights and Slum Youth Rehabilitation Development Organization in partnership with Children's Rights Violence Prevention Fund.
